Salutations de Glion!
Nous vous souhaitons beaucoup de plaisir avec la lecture de notre newsletter de décembre!

Introduction from Georgette Davey,
Managing Director

Dear alumni,

Thank you for ensuring that 2017 has been another successful year for Glion. Your continued support helps us in many ways, and ensures the school, its students and its alumni keep the Glion spirit flying high.

As part of our global alumni network, you help Glion remain abreast of the latest trends and developments within the industry. This also means our programs of study remain current, really reflecting what’s going on in the always-evolving world of hospitality. Our students then graduate with up-to-date knowledge and skills, ready to communicate with you and able to lead new developments.

2018 will see lots of exciting developments at Glion. We are particularly thrilled to be opening our renovated, cutting-edge food and beverage area. This will include a panoramic fine dining restaurant, luxurious lounge bar and modern patisserie corner. This investment bolsters Glion’s reputation as a premier luxury management school, providing fantastic facilities that truly exhibit our stunning surroundings, our students’ craftsmanship and our togetherness.

Our new courses are also a sign we’re continuing to meet the demands of industry. The Dual MBA / MSc course in International Hospitality Business focuses on the challenges of modern hospitality management, and boasts three accreditations from two leading institutions (ourselves and Grenoble Ecole de Management).

All of this ensures that the Glion spirit, just like our alumni community, stretches across the globe. It remains a key part of life not just for our institution, but also for our students and our alumni.

Yours,
Georgette Davey

Christalena Vraila

Alumni success story

Life since graduation has been full of excitement for Christalena. Originally from Greece, Christalena studied a Postgraduate Diploma in Hospitality Management at Glion’s London campus, graduating in 2015. Since then, she has had a range of positions at Waldorf Astoria New York before setting up her own company, Mr Highline.

“Mr Highline was conceived in the cosmopolitan city of New York,” Christalena explained. “The sunset was breath-taking and the views of the city reminded me and my co-founder what was so glorious about this city. It was the perfect moment and perfect location where the art of nature was combined with the magnitude of human creation.”

This inspired Christalena to co-found Mr Highline, “a creative agency focused on hospitality.” The company provides online services including commercial website design and development, social media management, insights and analytics, and online reviews management.

Christalena’s hard work and determination has seen her secure AccorHotels as a client. She believes it’s important for every student and graduate to follow their dreams. “It’s important to remain focused on your end goal, no matter how many obstacles there are in your path,” she said. “Things don’t come easy. You will surely fail many times, but it’s better to dare than regret that you never actually tried.”

Networking is a big part of any career, and Christalena is thankful she’s part of the Glion alumni family. “Glion Alumni offers a great opportunity to keep in touch with likeminded individuals, exchange experiences and ideas and stay up to date with the latest trends in the ever-evolving hospitality industry,” she said. “These are only a few reasons why I enjoy being part of this alumni family.”
